This is something I threw in the shopping basket just because of how it looks but wow, didn’t expect to think of the dentist while eating crisps.
This particular packet is manufactured and packed in India, although the main company is American. The packet wasn’t easy to split open so had to tear the edge first. I’m not sure about the initial smell though. It was hard to pin point. Did I smell something industrial? And what is silicon dioxide-INS 551? And why is listed in the bloody ingredients? A quick Google and I find that Silicon dioxide is ‘generally’ safe as a food additive. Not really a good start but it must have had to pass some sort of test right?
I really didn’t expect to add that much force biting the first chip and that put me off the initial experience. This is the type of chip that can break your teeth. It’s a shame though as the sweet & tangy flavour would have gone well with a chip with a milder crunch. This is only thing that kept me going (and because I eat everything anyway). The seasoning does add something to the sweetness of the potato. It’s one of those chips that you need to keep in your mouth for a while before chewing, were you absorb the flavours before chewing, like what I usually do when eating Skips. Good thing I was playing PS4 while eating it so had other things to think about.
Personally, it’s not the chip I like to crunch so I would definitely pick something else next time. I would still try other flavours from the brand just to give them a second chance, but until then, NEXT!
